It can be divided into two groups, Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) and Vitamin K2 (menaquinone). Vitamin K1 is found predominantly in leafy greens and is quite different to vitamin K2, which is found in animal products and fermented foods. Vitamin K1 does not seem to exhibit the same qualities as vitamin K2.

Symptoms of a Vitamin K2 deficiency may include:
-Excessive bleeding and increased time needed for blood clotting and wound healing
-Being prone to bruising easily
-Reduced bone mineralisation, often resulting in osteoporosis
