Directions:

Baths:  Children: Under 27kg – ½ cup;  27kg – 45kg – 1 cup for 20 minutes (for a standard bath size) – Adults:    45kg – 68kg – 1 ½ cup;  over 68kg – 2 cups:  for 40 minutes (for a standard bath size)

To experience all these benefits; it is suggested to bath 2 to 3 times per week, for 20-40 mins. The first 20 minutes the body cleanses of toxins and the next 20 minutes the body absorbs the minerals through the skin. For an aromatherapeutic experience, you can add 6-10 drops of your favourite essential oils to the salt before you add it to the bath. Coconut oil or olive oil can be added to add moisture in the skin. Submerge yourself in warm water (as hot as you can bear) to assist in the detoxification. Drink plenty water and rest after bath.

Add a cup of Earths Essentials Sodium Bicarbonate for extra detoxification and skin benefits. Add 1 cup raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar for fungus or yeast infection, athlete’s foot, sunburn, to balance skin ph levels and skin inflammation. You may use a dry brush to open up pores before the bath.

Feet & Hands:

  • Athelete’s foot – soak feet in ½ cup Epsom salt and 1 cup raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar to help relieve symptoms.
  • To remove splinters – soak affected skin area in an Epsom salt basin/bath to draw out the splinter.
  • Treat toenail fungus – Soak the affected toes in hot water mixed with a handful of Epsom salt 3 times a day.
  • Ease discomfort of Gout – Ease the discomfort of gout and reduce inflammation by adding 2-3 teaspoons of Epsom salt into a basin and immersing the affected foot/joint. The water should be as hot as is comfortable. Soak for about 30 minutes.
  • Remove foot odor – Mix a ½ cup of Epsom salt in warm water and soak your feet for 10 minutes to remove bad odor, soothe achy feet and soften rough skin.

Beauty Applications:

  • Exfoliate dead skin and face cleaner – In the shower/bath, mix a handful of Epsom salt with a tablespoon of coconut or olive oil and gently apply over wet skin to exfoliate and soften. Rinse thoroughly. To clean your face and exfoliate skin at the same time, mix a ½ teaspoon of Epsom salt with your regular cleansing cream or Earths Essentials Sodium Bicarbonate. Gently massage into skin and rinse with cold water.
  • Dislodge blackheads – Add a teaspoon of Epsom salt and 3 drops iodine into a ½ cup of boiling water. Apply this mixture to the blackheads with a cotton ball.
  • Hair volumizer – Combine equal parts deep conditioner and Epsom salt and warm in a pan. Work the warm mixture through your hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Household Applications:

  • Clean bathroom tiles – Mix equal parts Epsom salt, liquid dish detergent and Earths Essentials Sodium Bicarbonate and use as a scrub on bathroom tile.
  • Prevent slugs – Sprinkle Epsom salt on or near interior entry points to prevent slugs.
  • Clean detergent build-up on washing machines – Fill the machine tub with hot water, add Epsom salt, and run an agitate/soak/agitate cycle to dissolve detergent build-up (please consult your machine’s instruction manual for specific instructions).

Garden Applications:

  • Fertilize your houseplants – Epsom salt makes the primary nutrients in most plant foods (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) more effective. Sprinkle Epsom salt once weekly, to help nourish your houseplants, flowers and vegetables.
  • Keep your lawn green – When added to soil, it provides vital nutrients that help prevent yellowing leaves and the loss of green color (magnesium is an essential element in the chlorophyll molecule) in plants. Add 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt to 4 liters of water and sprinkle on your lawn to keep the grass healthy and green.
  • Insecticide spray – Use Epsom salts on your lawn and in your garden to safely and naturally get rid of plant pests.
